DURING the two weeks prior to the Consultative Group on Indonesia (CGI) meeting being held on 17 and 18 October 2000, (Indonesia's) Economics Coordinating Minister Rizal Ramli was very busy. Following the Atambua tragedy and some seemingly somewhat controversial economic policies, Ramli had to work very hard to cool things down as there was a dearth of questions between Indonesia and various countries, as well as donor organizations.
