For decades, the women of the Bajo ethnic group have been treated as objects. They suffered from endless domestic violence. They were treated like machines which produced children without proper care. Every month one hears stories of mothers dying at childbirth, of uterine cancer or of an infectious disease.
Outside of the home, their fate is no better. Middlemen are always exploiting them, such that the price of the fish they sell is below market
