Having been allocated merely 3.8 percent of the total 2001 state budget plan (RAPBN), the Indonesian education sector faces a questionable future. Previous years have seen an average 7 percent of the national budget (APBN) allocated to education. This year, education will be among one of the sectors sacrificed, as a result of the continuing economic crisis in Indonesia.
