Villagers in the environs of Sidoarjo believe in a diety known as Dewi Sri (the Goddess of Prosperity). A statue in her honor, with water spurting out of her breasts onto a pond, looms large over Belahan Temple, located at the foot of Mount Penanggungan, in Porong, East Java.
Believed to be sculpted back in the 11th century on orders of King Airlangga, founder of the Kahuripan kingdom, the water gushing out of the statue signified fertility. Acco
