Jakarta’s pollution is also caused by coal-fired steam power plants and industries. The government only focuses on emission tests and traffic engineering.
TWO variegated white-orange chimneys were discharging white smoke into the air. The smoke was thin, almost invisible, on Friday noon, August 18. Two small nearby chimneys were belching out smoke that was quite thick. The smoke came from a furnace of the coal-fired steam power plant or PLTU owned by Cikarang Listrindo in Muara Bakti village, Babelan, Bekasi Regency, West Java.
