Harvesting a Neighbor’s Sea Cucumbers

Three Indonesian fishing boats were destroyed for stealing sea cucumbers in Australian waters. Fishermen are enticed by high sea cucumbers prices and abundant stocks.

THE Australian Border Force (ABF) was notified about some illegal fishing taking place at Rowley Shoals, a marine park belonging to the State of Western Australia, last October. The Sydney Morning Herald reported a tourist vessel sailing in the area encountered some Indonesian fishermen. A video from a drone showed the fishermen wading through the coral and taking marine life.
