GRAPPLING with disasters and the pandemic is not new to Lt. Gen. Suharyanto. Before he was appointed Chief of National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) as well as of Covid-19 Task Force on November 17, 2021, as the commander of the East Java military region command V/Brawijaya, he was actively involved in response initiatives to various disasters including the pandemic in that province.
