Pushing Through the Police Bill

The House of Representatives is slated to approve the Police Bill, even though it contains militaristic elements. The bill will also empower the police force to take over investigation of corruption cases from the district attorney’s office.

The House of Representatives (DPR) seems to be far removed from social reality. The DPR has already learnt an expensive lesson from the poorly for mulated bill on Management of Emergency Situations, which has already taken one victim. Nevertheless, the DPR remains intent on pushing through the Police Bill. It plans to enact the controversial bill into legislation during its final house session of the year, next Wednesday.
