Alarm Bells for the Cooking Oil Cartel

The Attorney General’s Office names the Director-General of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Trade and three people in the palm oil business as corruption suspects related to the crude palm oil export. They are alleged of creating a cooking oil cartel.

DOZENS of investigators from the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) have been on standby in five cities since April 6. They had been preparing themselves to receive an order to search some locations said to be used to hoard cooking oil. “We are to carry out the searches in unison,” said Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah on Friday, April 22.
