As former president Abdurrahman Wahid was about to end his sit-in at Merdeka palace, a new and sinister crime occurred. Supreme Court judge Syafiuddin Kartasasmita was shot dead outside his Jakarta home. Some 10 days on, police have not got very far yet in finding out who killed him or why.
