TEN days before President Prabowo Subianto’s inauguration, the then Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, issued Ministerial Regulation No. 55/2024 on the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education Institutions, dated October 10, 2024. One of the main focuses of this regulation is sexual violence on campuses. It reinforces the earlier Ministerial Regulation No. 30/2021 on Sexual Violence in Higher Education Institutions. Despite these detailed regulations on prevention and handling, cases of sexual violence at various universities often remain unresolved.
