FOR former Attorney General Marzuki Darusman, Indonesia entered a law-enforcement state of emergency at 12am on Friday, January 2, 2026. That was the day the latest Criminal Law Procedures Code (KUHAP) came into force. “It immediately entered the stage of disaster,” he said at a press conference the day before the code took effect.
