Struggling for Whom?

Reflecting on student rallies, which claim to voice the people's aspirations, I find myself questioning the students' motivation. If I may ask, is the students' struggle at present really stemming out of pure conscience?
The way I see it the students' struggle lately is based solely on alma mater's support of the political elites. If this is the case, isn't it the student themselves who will eventually be trapped and create a new form of collusion/nepo
