Poverty is violence in its worst form," Gandhi once said. In fact, we really have no idea how poor people should be protected. This is tragic. The poor are illustrated as life's misfortune. To them, poverty is not a vacation from the boredom of luxury, nor a whim to seek something "natural" amid the suffocation of materialism. Poverty is not a tragic ending. It is a daily grind that must be carried out. How, then, can the poor be protected?
