The song accompanying the handkerchief dance (tari lenso) seemed like a mandatory song in the mid-1960s. The movie, The Betrayal of G-30S/PKI, which is no longer aired, showed how the lenso dance was performed in luxurious places such as the State Palace or Hotel Indonesia. While on the streets, the masses lived in poverty, queueing up to buy rice or oil.
