An opportunity to lift the arms embargo by the US is now open for Indonesia. A new law gives the US Secretary of State the authority to do so.

THE news came early last week. The US Law on Aid and Foreign Operations of the State Department gives the opportunity for lifting the arms embargo on Indonesia. That possibility is put in one of the articles of the law that has recently been legalized by President George W. Bush.
