'Bible Bashing' in Manokwari

Local religious figures and experts are drawing up a regional bylaw based on the Bible, but the local MUI protests the issue.

AN important regulation is at the draft stage in the Regency of Manokwari, West Papua. A number of church authorities and Christian intellectuals in Manokwari proposed the concept.

The initiators of the Christianity-based regional bylaw are ready to go ahead. They submitted the draft regulation to the local government on March 7, 2007.

The proposal was first raised at the 15th Synod of the Biblical Christian Church (GKI) at Wamena, last February.
