The Protection of Domestic Workers Bill has been sitting in the House for almost 19 years. There are lobbies to block it.
PRESIDENT Joko Widodo’s speech on January 18, in which he asked the House of Representatives (DPR) to immediately pass the Protection of Domestic Workers Bill (PPRT Bill), raised a concern for Puan Maharani. The House Speaker promptly contacted I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati, a fellow Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician who is also the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection.
