Each time gambling becomes an issue, the name of Tomy Winata will always be mentioned. Two years ago, the then President Abdurrahman Wahid ordered the arrest of the banker and property businessman. He was allegedly backing gambling operations on a leisure ship. But Tomy denied the accusations. Only last week, when Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso revealed a plan to centralize gambling, Tomy was once again rumored to be the backer behind the plan.
