THE appointment of Agung Kuswandono as Director-General of Customs and Excise is a sign of an important change in the organization. The job, which plays a vital role in state revenues, is no longer a ‘monopoly’ of senior officials. The new 44-year-old director-general replaces Thomas Sugijata, who is to retire.
