Restrictions on importing beef from specific countries like Australia and New Zealand, would clearly be a mistake. This unhealthy policy would lead toprices being controlled by a group of importers. The price of beef in Indonesia would soar, ending up more expensive than in neighboring countries. Ultimately, it would be the smugglers who compete to bring in illegal beef from India, for a far cheaper price.
