The DPR legislative body has once again held up the bill for forfeiture of assets acquired through criminal acts. This law is sorely needed to recover assets the state has lost through corruption and other economic crimes.
THE lack of commitment from the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) in combating economic crime is apparent from the protracted process of passing the Asset Forfeiture Bill. The difficulties encountered with this process stand in sharp contrast to the way they acted so swiftly when revising the law to weaken the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in 2019.
