Kidney trading on the black market is on the rise. The government should pay compensation to donors.
THE sale of hundreds of kidneys from Indonesians to buyers in Cambodia may only be the tip of the iceberg. The growth of organ trading on the black market is due to the high demand for transplants and the low number of donors.
In the middle of June, Greater Jakarta Police discovered a syndicate trading kidneys to Cambodia. In operation since 2019, the network sent 122 Indonesian citizens to Cambodia to sell their kidneys.
