Sustainable Octopus Fishing

SINCE 2019, Erwin Risky Hidayat, 40, has never managed to make a catch of octopus over one kilogram in weight. Moreover, beginning that year, the fisherman hailing from the Langkai Island, Makassar, South Sulawesi, had to go out to sea for at least 10 miles (around 18.5 kilometers) to even catch octopus of any weight. Whatever catch he made more often was almost not worth the effort, time, nor costs he had to endure to get it.
