THE Province of Bangka Belitung—comprising the islands of Bangka and Belitung—is identifiable with tin production. Since 1709, tin ore has been mined in this province. In February 2003, Bangka regency was divided into four regencies: Bangka (Central), West Bangka, South Bangka and Belitung. The Regency of Bangka, with Koba as its capital city, is located between the Bangka Strait on the west and Natuna Sea on the east.
