Indosat's Response
In connection with Bapak Anhar Sulaiman's complaint about his Indosat bill which Tempo published in its July 14-20 issue, we on behalf of Indosat's management thank Bapak Anhar for his input and effort to improve our services. We have contacted Bapak Anhar to explain and resolve the problem, and it has thus been well resolved.
FURTHER to an article in Tempo's July 14-20 issue titled 'Jakarta Water Leaks', I wish to convey several corrections to the facts as follows:
1. The Greater Jakarta Potable Water Company (PAM Jaya), as a business owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, which is bound by existing potable water supply contracts with PT Palyja and PT Aetra, has since 1997 several times done its utmost to improve on these contracts so they more fairly protect the interests of both the government and consumers, as represented by PAM Jaya, through rebalancing the contracts. Improvement of the contracts, including the improvement of clauses on outstanding accounts through an MOU and contract amendments, has had a positive effect, including improving both partners' billing performance. In January 2013, the billing performance of Palyja stood at 79.9 percent, and it improved to 81.12 percent by September 2013. Similarly, the billing performance of Aetra improved from 88.46 percent in January 2013 to 91.35 percent in September 2013.
Comfort and Security in Commuting
For five years I have gone to work every day by the Jakarta-Bogor commuter train. It is not only cheap, but also free of the traffic one finds on the crowded streets of Jakarta. Recently, however, I have been worried about comfort and security with the integration of the train's economy and business classes.
Customs Office Responds
With reference to Mr. Hakam Wibowo's letter we herewith clarify as follows:
1. After a check of AWB 438710043, we found that the value of the package FOB is US$175, plus US$18.43 in freight, and US$0.72 in insurance. FOB value is based on evidence of payment (if you ever did present such a document) or based on calculation of comparative prices by Customs officers (there being no such document).
Karaoke Centers Flourishing in Sidoarjo
I was so pleased when I heard that the mayor of Surabaya was closing Dolly, the largest prostitution center in Southeast Asia. I followed the developments from the idea to close Dolly until it was truly closed down, including the acts of resistance from a group of people and sex workers.
Bawaslu Clarifies
WE wish to respond to interview article Election monitoring bodies are not competent published in Tempo's June 9-15 issue.
The article gives the impression that the Constitutional Court and the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) are pitted against each other. The notion is tendentious and inaccurate.
