Tempo Cover Story Incorrect
THE Vacillating Over Survey Results cover story of Tempo's September 19-25 edition contains erroneous information. It is not true that President Joko Widodo met with Projo chairman Budi Arie Setiadi at the Merdeka Palace on Thursday, September 15, 2016. Additionally, the President never discussed the Jakarta governor candidacy with Budi by telephone or any other means of communication.
This incorrect information became the basis of a cover story, which means that the President's position may be wrongly understood by the public due to the article. The line saying "Jokowi agreed that supporting Risma would be a safer political bet," as written by Tempo is untrue and not based on facts at all.
Placement of Public Health Graduates
The ratio of public health graduates in 2005 is quite good, 49 per 100,000. However in 2015, for whatever reason, it fell to 13 per 100,000, as stated in the 2015 health minister's ordinance.
In fact the health minister's decree on the 2015-2019 strategic plan prioritizes the availability of public health personnel at primary services. Not only national policy, but also regional policy in making public health regulations without involving public health graduates as personnel. For instance, East Java Regional Regulation No. 7/2014 on health personnel and Central Sulawesi Regional Regulation No. 8/2014 on the development and empowerment of health personnel.
On Arcandra Tahar
ARCANDRA Tahar's double nationality has caused quite a commotion. It is a pity a person with two passports was able to become a minister. I believe the President has deviated from general principles of good governance because he has not been careful in the selection of his ministers.
The President should have been meticulous in the selection of every candidate for the cabinet to uphold the principles mentioned above. Even though many believe the former energy and mineral resources minister has had bountiful achievements and field experience, legally he should not have been appointed as a minister. A person with double citizenship should be banned from holding a government post in our country. So why was he given the position?
