There is evidence that animals were purchased by an official at the conservation institution from a network of traders apprehended by the police.
The National Police exposed major trade networks for protected animals. People in these networks were trading in overseas black markets.
The illegal trade of protected animals has quadrupled since 2010, particularly through online black markets.
