A Humanitarian Pause in Limbo

The humanitarian pause in Papua remains unfulfilled. The National Human Rights Commission has not followed up on it, and the government has not formed an implementing team.

Less than a month after being signed in Geneva, Switzerland, the issue of a humanitarian pause for Papua was discussed in a general military emergency state session of the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) from November 29-December 1, 2022. In the session, leading figures and members of that military wing of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) gathered in the Kiwirok District, Bintang Mountains Regency.
