GOVERNMENT Regulation (PP) No. 26/2023 on sea sediment management has sparked controversy because it was made without any in-depth scientific study. This regulation reopens the export of sea sand, which had been curtailed since 2003. Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said the regulation would generate huge profit potential for the country.
