THROUGHOUT last week, officials at Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) were in Japan. They accompanied representatives from the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) who were there to examine the plan to import used electric railway carriages (KRL) from Japan. KCI needed an audit result from the BPKP as it is a requirement for obtaining the license to import the used trains, a process that has been going on for months.
