THE crowded visitors of Mecca and Medina during Ramadan do not deter Indonesians from traveling there to perform umrah (minor pilgrimage). According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hisashi International Tourism (HIT Travel), Febryan Hadinata, demand for umrah travel from Indonesia typically reaches its peak during the fasting month. “Flights are expensive during (the fasting month of) Ramadan,” he said on April 1.
