All SWF Needs Independency

The Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), the agency that manages Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund (SWF), is different from SWF institution in other countries. It was established to attract foreign investments. It needs independency and transparency.

THE Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) established under the Job Creation Law was launched last February. A host of economists have warned that the institution, which directly reports to the president, could end up sharing the same fate as the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). The mismanagement of Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund had led to an embezzlement scandal that saw the imprisonment of Prime Minister Najib Razak.
