Victims of sexual violence often lose in court. They face an unfavorable perspective held by many working in law enforcement.
SYAFRI Harto, the non-active Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at Riau University, Riau, is not the only defendant in a sexual violence case who has been acquitted by the court. The National Commission on Violence against Women (Komnas Perempuan) noted that only 15 percent of 955 cases of sexual violence have been processed by the police over the past few years.
