ON Tuesday morning, July 4, a man came to the office of Maqdir Ismail and Partners law firm at Jalan Latuharhary, Menteng, Central Jakarta. He came to see Maqdir and handed over US$1.8 million or around Rp27 billion in cash, packed in 18 plastic bags. Allegedly, the money is linked to the settlement of the 4G base transceiver station (BTS) corruption scandal being handled by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO).
