Education is the best means of building tolerance. However, this must be without compulsion and must not be turned into a project.

THE appearance of schools that introduce their students to the values of pluralism and tolerance is encouraging. At a time when tension between people of different religious faiths is still widespread, we hope that education will be able to foster the seeds of togetherness and independence as well as the importance of respect for others. But the government should be cautious as tolerance in schools should not simply be turned into a project.
