GENERAL elections in Indonesia have long turned into an opportunity for political horse-trading. The 2024 general elections, which are already a hot topic, are no exception. Instead of identifying the best candidates from the 270 million Indonesians, a small number of senior party figures and members of the party elites bargain for power behind closed doors with no public participation.
