The quality of credit in the banking system is in decline. This could lead to major problems if relief through restructuring ends.
THE government should exercise caution over the debt restructuring program, which will end in March next year. The fall in the value of restructured loans from those debtors affected by the impact of Covid-19 is not a guarantee that the relief scheme during the pandemic era was free of problems. The increase in problematic or non-performing loans is still behind this reduction in restructuring.
