The condition of the Cimandiri watershed is increasingly critical. The government is simply washing its hands while corporations are no longer worried about clearing more forests.
THE environmental damage to the Cimandiri river basin area is worsening. Floods and landslides are a threat every rainy season. The Job Creation Law, which removed the obligation on the government to maintain a minimum of 30 percent forest cover, has worsened the condition of the watershed of the river in Sukabumi Regency, West Java.
The condition of around 167,000 hectares of the 181,000 total hectares of the Cimandiri watershed is now critical
