A number of Reformasi movement activists joined political parties after Suharto fell. They are close to party leaders.
UNDER the turtle-shell shaped roof of the House of Representatives (DPR) building, Ace Hasan Syadzily was carrying a brown paper with the words “Suharto Out.” It was May 18, 1998. Ace was Chairman of the Student Senate of the Faculty of Literatures at the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic Institute (IAIN) in Jakarta. Twenty-five years later, he recalls that event by having an office there, a DPR member from the Golkar Party.
