Jokowi and Surya Paloh enjoyed a close relationship following the 2014 general elections. Surya was disappointed when Jokowi did not appoint an attorney general from NasDem.

WHEN he arrived one day before the Jakarta gubernatorial election on July 11, 2012, Joko Widodo attempted to obtain support from the National Democrat (NasDem) Party, which was founded by Surya Paloh. NasDem’s General Chairman at the time, Patrice Rio Capella, remembers how Jokowi wore a suit that was too large for him.
