Empty Promises for Climate Crisis Mitigation

The government made an ambitious promise to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in time for the COP27 convention in Egypt. This was not supported by pro-environment development policies.
THE government should stop its penchant for calling out empty promises regarding its handling of the climate crisis. Without substantive concrete policies, efforts to gloss itself up in front of an international forum, such as it is currently doing as the COP27 climate summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, looms only serves to downgrade Indonesia’s credibility in the eyes of the global community.
