Costly Show of Force on Coal Policy
The government bans coal export for the whole month of January after coal miners fail to fulfill their DMO to supply coal for PLN. This show of force is clearly not the right way to solve the coal crisis.

THE year of the tiger 2022 begins with a big bang. Without warning, the Indonesian government bans coal export, across the board, for the whole month of January. The ban came about after coal miners failed to fulfill their domestic market obligation (DMO) to sell 25 percent of their product to the state electricity company, PLN.
