The massive construction of infiltration wells in Jakarta to prevent floods is almost a waste of money. The Jakarta administration should focus on restoring the functions of rivers and reservoirs instead.
JAKARTA Governor Anies Baswedan must reassess the plan to build a million infiltration wells worth billions of rupiah in the capital city. The plan sounds misdirected and misplaced at best as nearly three thousand wells have already proved to be of little use.
